The University of Cambridge

VICTORIA is a Cambridge International School, with British teachers employing Cambridge programmes throughout the Primary, Secondary and Prepa schools. It is also a Cambridge International Examination Centre (MX014). As it is the only centre outside Mexico City administering AS and A-level exams, it is open to external candidates as well as our own students.

Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Lower Secondary Programmes involve English, Science and Mathematics. These are First Language English courses and examinations, as applied to native English speakers all over the world. Students from year 1 to year 9 study these courses. There are annual Progression Tests, published by Cambridge, which are administered and marked internally for our own records. In both years 6 and 9, our students have the opportunity to sit Checkpoint Examinations. These are issued and marked by Cambridge who award Statements of Achievement to all candidates.

Cambridge Upper Secondary courses begin in year 10 leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations in year 11. Our students study English, Spanish and Mathematics and choose from a wide range of optional courses including Mandarin, Music, Drama, Sciences, Arts, Food & Nutrition, Physical Education and the increasingly important Global Perspectives. These examinations are externally moderated, and certificates awarded, by Cambridge University. Cambridge Advanced studies, in years 12 and 13, lead to AS and A-level examinations.

Again there is a wide range of options from which students choose according to their interests, abilities and career intentions. VICTORIA has a long-standing UNAM revalidation agreement which applies to these ‘Prepa’ courses. AS and A-level exam results are recognised, as the basis of university entrance requirements, around the world and are rigorous enough to provide an excellent foundation for university studies.
