What, no bins?

One of the first things visitors to VICTORIA notice (after no graffiti) is the lack of litter bins around the site! This is a very deliberate strategy to make everybody more aware of the waste we produce.

There are recycling bins in each classroom to accommodate the rubbish produced there; paper, pencil sharpenings, used staples etc. There is even a ‘Rubbish Rubbish’ bin for messy accidents but nowhere to leave a dirty yoghurt pot!

Lunch-time litter must go home, in the lunch box or school bag. Only a few new students try to use the bathroom bins for it. Most families support our recycling programme superbly, dropping off bags of clean packaging as they arrive in the morning or collect their children.
