One of the principal objectives of Primary education in VICTORIA is to develop children's English enough for them to benefit from the Secondary courses leading to international examinations. So, our work is based on practical activities combining the Mexican National programmes (SEP) and the Cambridge Primary programme of English, Maths and Science.
We have adapted a British reading scheme, to enhance understanding and use of English as well as reading and writing skills. During these sessions children work individually and may be on one of several different levels in that classroom.
Children in Years 1 to 6 all have a computer time every week. The younger students work with simple, attractive programs which help to practise numeracy and literacy objectives. Similar programs designed for older students are slotted into their timetable to link with current maths or topic objectives as well as adventure programs to develop a range of skills and strategies.
