Requirements to work in Mexico
To obtain an FM3 (permission to live and work in Mexico) and for registration with SEP (Mexican Ministry of Education) foreign teachers require a valid passport and a teaching qualification (BEd, PGCE or equivalent) together with a sponsoring employer, in this case Instituto Bilingüe VICTORIA, A.C.
For the teaching qualification to be recognised and accepted in Mexico it needs to be notarised and legalised.
Please take a copy of your teaching certificate to a Public Notary (not a solicitor) and ask for the document to be notarised. Public Notaries in UK charge between £35 and £60 for this service.
The notarised document should then be sent to the Foreign and Commonwelth Office in London to be legalised. This is a cheaper procedure. There is a regional office of the FCO in Manchester.
The FCO in London is located at King Charles Street, London, SW1A2AH. The procedure is explained in detail on their website: www.fco.gov.uk
VICTORIA will reimburse the cost of these procedures when you arrive in Mexico.
